With Lexus Hand-Held Tester (Scan Tool)

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector No. 3 (DLC3). Turn ignition on. Turn scan tool on and select DATALIST mode. Start engine. If scan tool displays engine RPM, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool does not display engine RPM, go to next step.
  2. Check harness and connectors between instrument cluster and ECM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If harness and connectors are okay, go to next step.
  3. Diagnose igniter circuit using diagnostic test for DTC P1300: IGNITER CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
