Wheel Knuckle (G2296782): Removal
CAUTION:
- If a new wheel knuckle or wheel hub is to be installed a new wheel bearing will be required.
- Do not use air tools to remove or install the halfshaft nut.
- The suspension arm nuts and bolts must be tightened with the suspension arms in the normal ride position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in premature failure of the bush.
- To prevent damage to the Constant Velocity joint (CV), do not allow the halfshaft to hang unsupported or allow the CV joints to over articulate.

- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
The following step(s) applies to:

- Before replacing the wheel knuckle, make sure to have followed the diagnosis and testing procedure.

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the wheel and tire.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .

Apply the foot brake and remove the halfshaft nut.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the shock absorber.
Refer to: SHOCK ABSORBER .
- Remove the brake disc.
Refer to: BRAKE DISC .
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the brake disc backplate.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the accelerometer sensor wiring harness.
- Reposition the accelerometer sensor wiring harness away from the wheel knuckle.
- Remove the bolt.
- Reposition the wheel speed sensor away from the wheel knuckle.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the accelerometer sensor.
- Remove and discard the nut.
- Reposition the stabilizer bar link.
- Remove and discard the 2 nuts and bolts.
- Remove the integral link.
- Remove and discard the nut and bolt.
- Reposition the tie-rod away from the wheel knuckle.
Remove and discard the lower control arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.
Remove and discard the upper control arm to wheel knuckle nut.

Use the special tool too release the halfshaft.

- Remove the special tool.

- Remove and discard the upper control arm to wheel knuckle bolt.
- Remove the wheel knuckle.
