Wheel Knuckle (G2296782): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles

1. CAUTION: This step requires the aid of another technician.
   NOTE: Do not fully tighten at this stage.
   • Install the wheel knuckle.
   • Install the new upper control arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

     Renew Part: Rear upper arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt Quantity: 1 . 

   The following step(s) applies to: 

   4WD vehicles

   Make sure the halfshaft is fully installed into the rear differential.

3. Install the halfshaft into the wheel knuckle.

   The following step(s) applies to: 

   All vehicles

4. • Install and tighten the new lower control arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

     Renew Part: Lower control arm nut and bolt Quantity: 1 . 

     Torque 

     Stage 1: 70 Nm 

     Stage 2: 240° 

5. • Tighten the upper control arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

     Torque 

     Stage 1: 40 Nm 

     Stage 2: 180° 

6. CAUTION: Torque must be applied to the bolt.
   • Reposition the tie-rod.
   • Install and tighten the new tie-rod to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.

     Renew Part: Tie-rod nut and bolt Quantity: 1 . 

     Torque 

     Stage 1: 60 Nm 

     Stage 2: 180° 

7. • Install the integral link.
   • Install and tighten the 2 new bolts and 2 new nuts.

     Renew Part: Integral link nuts and bolts Quantity: 2 . 

     Torque 

     Stage 1: 48 Nm 

     Stage 2: 60° 

8. • Reposition the stabilizer bar link into the correct position.
   • Install and tighten the new nut.

     Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link lower nut Quantity: 1 . 

     Torque  : 70 Nm 

9. • Install the accelerometer sensor.
   • Install and tighten the bolt.

     Torque  : 6 Nm 

10. • Reposition the wheel speed sensor into the correct location.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 6 Nm 

11. • Reposition the accelerometer sensor into the correct location.
    • Secure the wiring harness in the correct position.
    • Connect the electrical connector.
12. • Install the brake disc backplate.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

13. Install the brake disc.

    Refer to: BRAKE DISC .

14. Install the shock absorber.

    Refer to: SHOCK ABSORBER .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    4WD vehicles

15. NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    • Apply and hold the footbrake.
    • Install and tighten the new halfshaft nut.

      Renew Part: Rear halfshaft nut Quantity: 1 . 

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 300 Nm 

      Stage 2 Loosen: 90° 

      Stage 3: 80 Nm 

      Stage 4: 60° 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles

16. Install the wheel and tire.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .

17. Use the Jaguar Land Rover approved equipment to check and if necessary adjust the rear wheel alignment. SRO must be claimed separately.
