Rear SUBFRAME - [+] MHEV/[+] Non-Electric Vehicles (G2919872): Installation

CAUTION: The suspension arm nuts and bolts must be tightened with the suspension arms in the normal ride position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in premature failure of the bush.

The following step(s) applies to: 

4WD vehicles

    • Install the Rear Drive Unit (RDU).
    • Install and tighten the 4 new bolts.

      Renew Part: Differential case front bolt(s) Quantity: 2 . 

      Renew Part: Differential case rear bolts Quantity: 2 . 

      Torque 

      Front bolts: 175 Nm 

      Rear bolts: 110 Nm 

    • Install the 3 RDU bush heatshields.
    • Install and tighten the 6 bolts.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles

    • Install the 2 silencer heatshields to both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

    • Install the 2 noise, vibration and harshness dampers to both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque  : 48 Nm 

    • Install the stabilizer bar.
    • Install and tighten the 4 new bolts.

      Renew Part: Rear stabilizer bar to subframe bolts Quantity: 4 . 

      Torque  : 60 Nm 

    • With assistance, install the suspension arm and wheel knuckle assemblies to both sides of the vehicle.
    • Reposition the 2 lower control arms on both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 4 new bolts

      Renew Part: Lower control arm bolt(s) Quantity: 4 . 

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 70 Nm 

      Stage 2: 240° 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    4WD vehicles

  1. Make sure the 2 halfshafts are correctly located in the RDU on both sides of the vehicle.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles

    • Reposition the 2 upper control arms on both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 2 new nuts and bolts.

      Renew Part: Upper control arm to subframe nuts and bolts Quantity: 2 . 

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 40 Nm 

      Stage 2: 180° 

    • Reposition the 2 stabilizer bar links on both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 2 new the nuts.

      Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link nuts Quantity: 2 . 

      Torque  : 70 Nm 

  2. CAUTION: Torque must be applied to the bolt.
    • Reposition the 2 tie-rods on both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 2 new the nuts.

      Renew Part: Tie-rod nut Quantity: 2 . 

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 70 Nm 

      Stage 2: 60° 

  3. Install and connect the subframe wiring harness.
  4. Install the 2 springs to the lower control arms.
  5. CAUTION: Do not fully tighten the subframe to body bolts until the 4 wheel alignment has been checked.
    • Install the rear subframe.
    • Make sure the springs are correctly located on the lower control arms and in the body.
    • Make sure the driveshaft is correctly connected to the RDU.
    • Connect the RDU breather.
    • Install the 4 new subframe to body bolts.

      Renew Part: Rear subframe to body bolts Quantity: 4 . 

  6. Install and tighten the 8 new subframe bracket bolts.

    Renew Part: Subframe bracket bolt(s) Quantity: 8 . 

    Torque  : 80 Nm 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    4WD vehicles

    • Tighten the rear driveshaft to RDU joint, using the special tool and torque wrench the following calculation steps must be followed.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-205-1032  , JLR-205-1033A 

    • Step 1. Multiply the required torque by the effective length of the torque wrench (1).
    • Step 2. Add the effective length of the special tool (2) to the effective length of the torque wrench (1).
    • Step 3. Divide the total of step 1 by the total of step 2.
    • Step 4. Set the torque wrench to the figure arrived at in step 3.
    • Tighten the rear driveshaft to the torque given by the calculation.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles

  8. Install the fuel filler pipe bracket bolt.

    Torque  : 10 Nm 

  9. Secure the subframe wiring harness to the body.
  10. Connect and secure the subframe wiring harness to the body wiring harness.
    • Install the brake hoses to the subframe on both sides of the vehicle.
    • Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

  11. Install the rear brake pads on both sides of the vehicle.

    Refer to: BRAKE PADS .

  12. Install the rear suspension height sensors on both sides of the vehicle.

    Refer to: REAR SUSPENSION HEIGHT SENSOR .

  13. Install the rear shock absorbers on both sides of the vehicle.

    Refer to: SHOCK ABSORBER .

  14. Install the rear wheel arch liners on both sides of the vehicle.

    Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER .

  15. Install the exhaust system.

    Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM .

  16. Use Jaguar Land Rover approved equipment to check and if necessary adjust the 4 wheel alignment. SRO must be claimed separately.

    Refer to: WHEEL ALIGNMENT (G2916251)

  17. Fully tighten the 4 subframe to body bolts.

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 110 Nm 

    Stage 2: 120° 

  18. Install the side undershield on both sides of the vehicle.

    Torque  : 6 Nm 

  19. NOTE: If equipped.

    Install the DEF  tank shield.

    Torque 

    M8 bolts: 15 Nm 

    M6 bolts: 10 Nm 

    Screws: 2.5 Nm
