Front SUBFRAME (G2919865): Removal

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
Reposition the carpet and noise, vibration and harshness material.

CAUTION: Align the front wheels to the straight ahead position. Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate when steering column is disconnected.
- Remove and discard the steering column flexible coupling bolt.
- Reposition the steering column
- Remove the 3 nuts.
- Remove the steering column bulkhead seal.

- Remove the front wheel and tire.

- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the front wheel and tire.

- Remove the suspension height sensor.
Refer to: FRONT SUSPENSION HEIGHT SENSOR .
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the suspension height sensor.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the 2 fasteners.
- Reposition the front wheel arch liner.
- Repeat this step for the other side.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 fasteners.
- Lower the body undershield.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove and discard the lower brake caliper carrier bolt.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove and discard the lower control arm ball joint nut and bolt.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Loosen, but do not remove the tie-rod end nut.
- Repeat this step for the other side.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the seal.
- Use the special tool to release the tie-rod end from the wheel knuckle.
Special Tool(s): JLR-204-793A
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Use the special tool to release the tie-rod end from the wheel knuckle.
- Remove and discard the nut.
- Reposition the tie-rod end.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link lower nut.
- Reposition the stabilizer bar link.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
Disconnect the 2 power steering electrical connectors.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Remove the Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) NOx sensor module cover.
Disconnect the SCR NOx sensor module electrical connector.

CAUTION: Do not allow the module to hang unsupported.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Reposition the SCR NOx sensor module.
- Remove the 2 fasteners.
- Remove the SCR NOx sensor module bracket.
Disconnect the diesel exhaust fluid injector electrical connector.
The following step(s) applies to:
Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Reposition the wiring harness.
The following step(s) applies to:
Plug in hybrid electric vehicles only
- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Remove the bolt.
- Reposition the subframe heatshield away from the front High Voltage (HV) cable.
- Release the HV cable bracket from the subframe.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Reposition the coolant hoses away from the subframe.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
Remove the 2 exhaust bracket bolts.
Remove the powertrain lower support insulator to engine bolt.
- Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the undershield support bracket.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Use a suitable stand to support the subframe.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Remove and discard the 4 bolts.
- Remove the subframe.
- Use a suitable stand to support the subframe.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Remove and discard the 4 nuts and 4 bolts.
- Remove the stabilizer bar.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
Release the 6 wiring harness clips.
- Remove and discard the 4 bolts.
- Remove the steering gear.
- Remove the powertrain lower support insulator.
- Discard the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Discard the M14 bolt.
- Remove the lower control arm.
- Repeat this step for the other side.

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the noise, vibration and harshness damper.
