On some front lower control arm rear hydrabushes, the fill port may be at the top of the hydrabush.
- Drill a hole through the rear hydrabush fill port using a 6 mm diameter drill bit, to a depth of no more than 23 mm, as shown in the illustration below. If the fill port is at the top of the hydrabush, turn the steering to full right lock to allow accessCAUTION:
- Do not drill deeper than 23 mm, failure to follow this instruction will result in damage to the component.
- Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
- Drill a hole through the back of the hydrabush casing using a 3 mm diameter drill bit, to a depth of no more than 3 mm, as shown in the illustration below. This will assist with the removal of the hydrabush fluid in the next stepCAUTION:
- Do not drill deeper than 3 mm, failure to follow this instruction will result in damage to the component.
- Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
NOTE: The hole must be drilled as low as possible. - Using the syringe and length of tube, remove as much hydrabush fluid as possible through the hole created in the fill port, as shown in the illustration bellow. A minimum of 50 ml of hydrabush fluid must be removed before continuing to step 8. If 50 ml of hydrabush fluid cannot be removed, a Technical Assistance (TA) must be raised, using the technical bulletin number JLRTB02060
as reference
- Using a suitable aerosol degreaser, flush the hydrabush until the escaping fluid is clear, as shown in the illustration belowCAUTION: be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
