Driveshaft (G2308024): Removal

NOTE:

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
If the special tool JLR-205-993 does not fit as intended, refer to SSM75484.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
Remove the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM .
NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

- Remove the 4 nuts.
- Remove the 7 bolts.
- Remove the 8 fasteners.
- Remove the left side undershield.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the joint or gaiter, do not allow the driveshaft to hang unsupported.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the center heatshield.
- Install, but do not fully tighten the 2 center bearing bolts.
Disconnect the driveshaft from the rear differential.

Mark the installed position of the driveshaft joint in relation to the pinion flange.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the joint or gaiter, do not allow the driveshaft to hang unsupported.

- Remove and discard the 6 bolts.
- Remove the 3 washers.
- Disconnect the rear driveshaft.
NOTE: This procedure requires the aid of another technician.

- Remove and discard the 2 center bearing bolts.
- With assistance, remove the rear driveshaft.
