Rear Differential Pinion Seal (G2354783): Installation

CAUTION:
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
- Make sure the special tool is correctly installed and the seal is fully installed in the rear differential as illustrated. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the special tool or the rear differential control module bracket.
Use the special tools to install the new differential pinion seal.
Special Tool(s): 307-520 , JLR-205-1040
- Make sure that the area illustrated is clean and free from foreign materials.
- Apply high strength thread-lock to 3 threads in the area illustrated.

NOTE:
- The rear differential pinion nut has a left hand thread.
- Install to the same number of rotations as previously removed.
Install the nut finger tight at this stage.
- Install the special tool.

NOTE:
- The rear differential pinion nut has a left hand thread.
- Make sure that the special tool is correctly installed on the rear differential splines.
Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-205-1039

CAUTION:
- Make sure the special tool is correctly supported.
- Make sure the special tool is correctly located in the axle stand.
Use a suitable hydraulic jack and axle stand to support the special tool as illustrated.
General Equipment: Axle stands
General Equipment: Transmission jack

CAUTION:
- Make sure the rear differential pinion nut is installed to the correct measurement noted down in removal process.
- Do not over tighten the pinion nut. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the pinion bearing.
- Make sure that the rear differential pinion nut scribed mark is aligned and is never tightened short of the scribed mark on the differential pinion shaft.
Tighten the pinion nut to the previously marked position.
- Install a new O-ring seal.
Renew Part: Rear differential pinion O-ring seal Quantity: 1 .
- Install a new circlip.
Renew Part: Rear differential pinion circlip Quantity: 1 .
- Install and tighten the rear driveshaft nut onto the rear driveshaft finger tight.
- Install a new O-ring seal.
- Install the rear driveshaft.
