All Wheel Drive Control Module/All Wheel Drive B Control Module

ITEM DESCRIPTION
1 Connector to right Rear Drive Unit (RDU) clutch pack motor
2 Connector to vehicle wiring
3 Connector to Left RDU clutch pack motor

The All Wheel Drive Control Module (AWDCM) has 2 parts. The AWDCM controls the left Rear Drive Unit (RDU) clutch drive motor. The AWDBCM controls the right RDU clutch drive motor

The AWDCM and AWDBCM is located on the top of the RDU, positioned above the pinion. The AWDCM is attached to the RDU housing and secured with 4 screws.

An electrical connector provides the interface between the AWDCM and the vehicle harness. There are 2 connectors which provide the connections to the RDU clutch actuators, 1 from the AWDCM and 1 from the AWDBCM.

The AWDCM software:

The AWDCM software checks the AWDCM and the AWDBCM.

Inputs from other vehicle systems are received through FlexRay signals from the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) chassis and powertrain systems buses. This information is used to determine connect and disconnect states and speed of connection. This is to make sure that the correct state of connection occurs to provide maximum handling and dynamic improvements and optimum fuel economy.

Outputs from the AWDCM provide information for the driver on the system status. This is displayed in the Touchscreen (TS) or the Instrument Cluster (IC). The IC provides warning messages and warning chimes. The TS provides system status displays showing Power Transfer Unit (PTU) and RDU operation and Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) connection.

If a failure occurs, the system only operates in FWD and a warning message is displayed.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored and can be retrieved using the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic system.
