Roof Opening Panel Frame (G2389859): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

   Remove all residual sealant material from the body.

2. CAUTION:

   • Make sure that all spacers are present and secure on the replacement roof opening panel frame before the PU adhesive is applied.
   • Touching the adhesive surface will impair re-bonding.
   • Make sure all mating faces are clean and dry before applying sealant.

   Prepare the roof opening panel frame, roof opening panel frame flange and trimmed PU adhesive in accordance with the instructions included with the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) PU adhesive kit.

3. WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.
   CAUTION: Make sure that equal pressure is applied to the full length of the component.

   With assistance, install the roof opening panel frame assembly.

   General Equipment: Windscreen removal/installation equipment 

4. NOTE: Make sure that the gap around the component is even.

   With assistance, align the roof opening panel frame assembly as illustrated.

5. • Install the roof pod.
   • Install the cable support bracket.
   • Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

     Torque  : 10 Nm 

6. • Secure the 3 wiring harness retainer clips.
   • Connect the 5 electrical connectors to the roof pod.
7. Install the roof opening panel.

   Refer to: ROOF OPENING PANEL .

8. Connect the roof opening panel drain tubes on both side.
9. CAUTION: Make sure that no excess sealant residue is evident.

   Spray water around the roof opening panel frame, mark any area that leaks. Dry the roof opening panel frame and sealant before applying additional sealant.

   The following step(s) applies to: 

   Standard wheelbase 

10. CAUTION: Make sure that the clips are correctly located.

    Install the roof cross bar trim panel at the 6 clips.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

11. Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the roof blind motor and the roof opening panel motor.
12. Install the roof opening panel blind.

    Refer to: ROOF BLIND .

13. Connect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
