Parking Aid
The parking aid system provides an audible warning to the driver when any obstacles are in the path of the vehicle during forward or reverse parking maneuvers.
During low speeds, the Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) uses the ultrasonic sensors to monitor the area around the vehicle. If an object is detected within a monitored area, the PAM then outputs a warning using the audio system speakers. A threat is an obstacle inside the detection zone of the vehicle, to which the vehicle either drives to, or has intent to drive to. The parking aid sensors can detect solid objects such as posts, walls and other vehicles. Objects very close to the ground may not be detected, but because of their low height, may not cause damage to the vehicle.
The parking aid system classifies the objects into sectors as seen in the parking aid plan view and reports the closest 1 for that sector.
