Heated Seats - If Equipped
The seat heater operates when the engine is running. Power supply for the heater is supplied from a comfort relay in the Rear Junction Box (RJB). It is controlled by a hardwired ignition ON signal from the Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) assembly. Each seat cushion heater incorporates a Seat Heater Control Module (SHCM) which is connected through a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) bus to the HVAC control module. The SHCM also controls the power supply to the backrest heater element.
When the HVAC control module receives a seat heating request, it sends a LIN bus message to the appropriate SHCM to energize the heater elements. The SHCM passes the temperature signal, from a thermal sensor in the cushion heater element, back to the HVAC. The HVAC uses the temperature signal to regulate the cushion and backrest heater elements at the selected heat setting.
