Depending on vehicle configuration, the climate seat is optionally installed on the driver and passenger seats.
If climate seat is available climate assemblies are incorporated within the seat cushion and backrest.
The climate assembly comprises a Thermal Electric Device (TED), a blower and a temperature sensor. Each climate seat comprises a Seat Climate Control Module (SCCM) located beneath the seat cushion. The SCCM is attached to a bracket with 2 screws. The modules are connected to the HVAC control module on the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) bus. Power supply for the climate assemblies in the seats are supplied from the Rear Junction Box (RJB). The climate assemblies can only operate when the engine is running.
The SCCM uses the signals from the temperature sensors in the backrest and the cushion climate assemblies to regulate the TED and the blower at the selected temperature. The TED can heat up or cool down depending on the voltage and the direction of current flow provided by the SCCM. The blower blows air over the TED to distribute the heated or cooled air through liners in the related seat cushion or backrest. Depending on the required seat temperature the SCCM can activate the backrest climate assembly only, or both the backrest and the seat cushion climate assemblies.
