CAUTION:
- New transfer cases may be supplied with untapped bolt holes, reuse the original bolts when self tapping the new threads.
- Re-manufactured transfer cases have tapped holes, bolts must be installed finger tight before applying Torque.
NOTE:

- Disconnect the 12 V system.

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Remove the transmission support crossmember.

- Remove the rear driveshaft.

CAUTION: Air tools must not be used.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the mount.

CAUTION:
- Mark the position of the driveshaft flange in relation to the drive pinion flange.
- To avoid damage to the joint or gaiter, do not allow the driveshaft to hang.
- Remove and discard the 8 bolts.
Renew Part: Driveshaft to front output flange bolts Quantity: 1.
- Disconnect the front driveshaft.

CAUTION: Air tools must not be used.
Disconnect the ground cable.

CAUTION: Air tools must not be used.NOTE: Vehicles with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.

CAUTION: Air tools must not be used.NOTE: Vehicles without DPF.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.

CAUTION: Always plug any open connections to prevent contamination.
- Disconnect the breather pipe.
- Release the wiring harness.

CAUTION: Air tools must not be used.
Remove the transfer case damper.
- Use a suitable stand to support the transfer case.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Use the special tool to remove the 8 bolts.
Special Tool(s): 303-1069
- Remove the transfer case.
- Use a suitable stand to support the transfer case.

CAUTION: Do not complete this step if a new transfer case is to be installed.
Remove and discard the seal.
