Shock Absorber (G2296778): Removal
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the wheel and tire.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .
Disconnect and release the shock absorber wiring harness.
Using a suitable stand, support the lower control arm.
- Remove and discard the shock absorber lower nut and bolt.
- Release the shock absorber from the wheel knuckle.
Reposition the front section of the wheel arch liner.
- Remove and discard the 2 upper bolts.
- Remove the shock absorber.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
Remove the cap.
- Remove and discard the nut from the top of the shock absorber.
- Remove the shock absorber top mounting.
- Remove the shock absorber boot.
- Remove the spring aid.
Inspect the components and replace if damaged or worn.
