Rear SUBFRAME - [+] MHEV/[+] Non-Electric Vehicles (G2919872): Removal

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- If the special tool JLR-205-993 does not fit as intended, refer to SSM75484.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the side undershield.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM .
The following step(s) applies to:
4WD vehicles
- Disconnect the rear driveshaft.
Refer to: DRIVESHAFT TO REAR DIFFERENTIAL DISCONNECTION .
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the rear wheel arch liners from both sides of the vehicle.
Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER .
- Remove the rear shock absorbers from both sides of the vehicle.
Refer to: SHOCK ABSORBER .
- Remove the rear suspension height sensors from both sides of the vehicle.
Refer to: REAR SUSPENSION HEIGHT SENSOR .

- Remove the rear brake pads from both sides of the vehicle.
Refer to: BRAKE PADS .
- Support the brake calipers away from the subframe and suspension components.
- Remove the rear brake pads from both sides of the vehicle.
- Remove the nuts.
- Release the brake hose from the rear subframe from both sides of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the 2 fasteners from the wiring harness bracket.
- Release the subframe wiring harness from the body.
Remove the fuel filler pipe bracket bolt.

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank shield.
To aid installation, use a straight edge to mark the position of the subframe in relation to the body at the points shown.
Remove and discard the 8 subframe bracket bolts.
- Use a suitable stand to support the subframe.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Remove and discard the 4 subframe to body bolts.
- Lower the subframe and disconnect the Rear Drive Unit (RDU) breather.
- Remove the subframe.
- Use a suitable stand to support the subframe.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is remove for access only.
Remove the 2 rear springs from both sides of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the 5 connectors.
- Release the 26 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the rear subframe wiring harness.
- Remove and discard the nuts.
- Reposition the tie-rods from both sides of the vehicle.
- Remove and discard the nuts.
- Reposition the stabilizer bar links from both sides of the vehicle.
- Remove and discard the nuts and bolts.
- Reposition the upper control arms from both sides of the vehicle.
The following step(s) applies to:
4WD vehicles
Use a suitable tool to release the halfshafts from both sides of the vehicle.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
Remove and discard the lower control arm rear bolts from both sides of the vehicle.

CAUTION: Take care not to damage the halfshaft seal.
- Remove and discard the lower control arm front bolts.
- With assistance, remove the suspension arm and wheel knuckle assemblies from both sides of the vehicle.
- Remove and discard the 4 bolts.
- Remove the stabilizer bar.
- Remove the 6 bolts.
- Remove the 3 RDU bush heatshields.
- Remove the bolts.
- Remove the rear silencer heatshields from both sides of the vehicle.
- Remove the nuts.
- Remove the noise, vibration and harshness dampers from both sides of the vehicle.
The following step(s) applies to:
4WD vehicles
- Remove and discard the 4 bolts.
- Remove the RDU.
