Occupant Classification Sensor - Vehicles With: NAS Specification (G2312034): Removal
WARNING:
- To prevent accidental deployment, you must de-energize the power in the Restraints Control Module (RCM). Wait at least 2 minutes after you disconnect the startup battery ground cable before you do any work on, or adjacent to, the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS). If you do not follow these instructions, it can cause injury or death.
- Always wear safety glasses when working on an airbag equipped vehicle and when handling an airbag. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
- Do not connect any electrical test device or equipment to the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) connectors.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- Remove the front row seat.
Refer to: FRONT ROW SEAT .
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
- Release the front row seat outer valance in the sequence shown.
- Disconnect the front row seat switchpack electrical connector.
- Remove the front row seat outer valance.
Release the 2 front row seat backrest cover retainers.

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the front row seat backrest trim panel.
Release the 3 front row seat cushion cover retainers.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
Release the front row seat cushion cover retainer.
Release the front row seat cushion cover retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) from the seat base.
Disconnect the front row seat cushion heater element electrical connector.
Remove the front row seat cushion assembly.
- Release the velcro strap.
- Release the front row seat cushion cover.
- Remove and discard the 20 hog rings.
- Remove the front row seat cushion cover from the cushion assembly.
