Fuel Injectors (G2110321): Installation

  1. CAUTION: Make sure a new fuel injector replacement kit is installed to each of the fuel injectors.

    Repeat steps  2 to  8 to install the fuel injector replacement kits to each of the fuel injectors.

    Renew Part: Fuel Injector replacement kits Quantity: 4  .

    Install a new fuel injector O-ring seal and washer.

    Install the special tool JLR-310-257 to the fuel injector with the 'T' symbol towards the top of the fuel injector as shown.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-310-257 

  4. CAUTION: Make sure that the fuel injector TeflonTM seal groove is clean and free of foreign material.

    Use the special tool 310-198 to install the TeflonTM seal to the fuel injector.

    Special Tool(s): 310-198 

  5. Wait 2 minutes to allow the TeflonTM seal to recover its shape.

    • Check if the TeflonTM seal is correctly located in the fuel injector groove.
    • As illustrated, remove the special tool JLR-310-257 from the fuel injector to create the final shape of the TeflonTM seal.

    Install a new fuel injector spring clamp.

    • Lubricate the fuel injector O-rings with clean engine oil.

      Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

    • Install the 4 fuel injectors to the fuel rail.

    Make sure the fuel injectors are correctly aligned.

    Make sure the injectors are correctly aligned.

    • Install the 4 fuel injector wiring harness clips.
    • Connect the 4 fuel injector electrical connectors.

    Install the appropriate special tools. If a new cylinder head has not  been installed then the special tool JLR- 310-255 with the threaded section must be used. If a new cylinder head has  been installed then the special tool JLR-310-256 without the threaded section must be used.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-310-255  , JLR-310-256

    1. Install the fuel rail and fuel injector assembly using the special tool guide pins to control the position.
    2. Install the 2 fuel rail center bolts finger tight.
    3. Tighten the 2 fuel rail center bolts 1 turn at a time alternating between the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 20 Nm 

  14. Remove the special tool guide pins.
    • Install and tighten the 2 outer fuel rail bolts.

      Torque  : 20 Nm

    Fully tighten the 4 fuel rail bolts in the sequence illustrated.

    Torque  : 30 Nm 

  17. Install the spark plugs.

    Refer to: SPARK PLUGS .

  18. CAUTION: Fuel lines may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel lines after each full tightening sequence.
    1. Install the HP  fuel pump to fuel rail line. Only tighten the unions hand tight.
    2. Fully tighten the fuel pump union and fuel rail union.

      Torque  : 21 Nm 

    3. Wait for 30 seconds.
    4. Check the fuel pump union and fuel rail union torque.

      Torque  : 21 Nm 

  19. CAUTION: Fuel lines may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark the fuel lines after each full tightening sequence.
    1. Install the LP  fuel supply line to the fuel pump. Only tighten the union hand tight.
    2. Install the 2 LP  fuel supply line bracket nuts finger tight, then loosen by 90 degrees.
    3. Fully tighten the HP  fuel pump union.

      Torque  : 21 Nm 

    4. Fully tighten the 2 LP  fuel supply line bracket nuts.

      Torque  : 11.5 Nm 

    5. Wait for 30 seconds.
    6. Check the HP  fuel pump supply line union torque.

      Torque  : 21 Nm 

    7. Connect the LP  fuel supply line.
    • Reposition the engine wiring harness.
    • Connect the 11 electrical connectors.
    • Install and tighten the 2 engine wiring harness bracket nuts.

      Torque  : 9 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 2 ground cable bolts.

      Torque  : 9 Nm 

  21. Connect the HP  fuel pump electrical connector.
  22. Install the breather pipe.
  23. Install the NVH  material.
  24. Install the engine cover.
  25. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .

  26. Bleed the fuel system and check for leaks.

    Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM BLEEDING .
