Driveshaft (G2308024): Installation

    Use the special tools to install the rear driveshaft.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-205-1032  , JLR-205-1033A 

  2. NOTE: This procedure requires the aid of another technician.
    • With assistance, install the rear driveshaft.
    • Reposition the center bearing into the correct location.
    • Install the heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the 2 new driveshaft center bearing mount bolts.

      Renew Part: Driveshaft center bearing mount bolt(s) Quantity: 

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

    • Install the driveshaft.
    • Align the marks made during the removal procedure.
    • Install the 3 washers.
    • Install and tighten the 6 new bolts in a diagonal sequence.

      Renew Part: Driveshaft to front output flange bolts Quantity: 

      Torque  : 40 Nm 

  3. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    • Install the left side undershield.
    • Install and tighten the 4 nuts.

      Torque  : 7 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 7 bolts.

      Torque  : 7 Nm 

    • Install the 8 fasteners.
  4. CAUTION: Use the same unit of length for the calculation.

    • Use the special tool and torque wrench to fully tighten the driveshaft.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-205-1032 

      Torque  : 150 Nm 

    • Step 1. Multiply the required torque by the effective length of the torque wrench (1).
    • Step 2. Add the effective length of the special tool (2) to the effective length of the torque wrench (1).
    • Step 3. Divide the total of step 1 by the total of step 2.
    • Step 4. Set the torque wrench to the figure arrived at in step 3.
    • Tighten the rear driveshaft to the torque given by the calculation.
  5. Install the exhaust system.
