Direct Torque Flow Joint
The Direct Torque Flow (DTF) joint is located at the rear end of the driveshaft and connects the driveshaft to the Rear Drive Unit (RDU). The DTF joint is a type of Constant Velocity (CV) joint. The difference between the 2 types is the way they connect the 2 elements. The outer part of the joint is welded to the driveshaft instead of the 6 bolt connection of the front CV joint.
The DTF joint uses an interface feature to connect to the RDU. The nut and the circlip are used to draw the DTF joint onto the pinion interface feature. The DTF joint design also improves driveshaft imbalance and reduces Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH).
