| 1 | Front Constant Velocity (CV) joint |
| 2 | Center CV joint |
The front Constant Velocity CV joint is located at the front end of the driveshaft. The front CV joint connects to Power Transfer Unit (PTU) with 6 bolts. There are 3 compression link washers located under each pair of bolts. The compression link washers are required to prevent the compression of the CV gaiter adapter. The front CV joint accommodates the PTU movements from the engine, when drive forces appear.
In the middle of the driveshaft there is a center CV joint which divides the driveshaft into front and rear section. The center CV joint is welded to the rear end of the front section. The center CV joint allows for angular deviations. The center CV joint also provides axial movement to compensate for the distance changes between the PTU and the Rear Drive Unit (RDU).
