Rear Drive Unit (G2308412): Installation

NOTE: Steps 1 - 4 are only required if previously removed.
- Install a new circlip.
  Renew Part: Circlip Quantity: 1 .
- Install the rear driveshaft nut.

- Install the Rear Drive Unit (RDU) control module.
- Install the 4 bolts finger tight at this stage in the sequence illustrated.

Tighten the 4 bolts in the sequence illustrated.

Torque : 10 Nm
Connect the 2 control module electrical connectors.
Install the wiring harness clip.
Use a suitable hydraulic jack to support the RDU.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
Install the RDU.
- Connect the breather.
- Install the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Connect the RDU electrical connector.
Install and tighten the 2 new rear RDU bolts.
Renew Part: Differential case rear bolts Quantity: 2 .

Torque : 110 Nm
Install and tighten the 2 new front RDU bolts.
Renew Part: Differential case front bolt(s) Quantity: 2 .

Torque : 175 Nm
Remove the transmission jack.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Carefully install the heatshield.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque : 10 Nm
- Carefully install the heatshield.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque : 10 Nm

Use the special tools to install the rear driveshaft.

Special Tool(s): JLR-205-1032 , JLR-205-1033A

Torque : 150 Nm
Install the rear silencer.
Refer to: REAR SILENCER .
Install both the rear halfshafts.
Refer to: REAR HALFSHAFT .
