Rear Drive Unit Draining And Filling (G2308706): Filling

  1. Fill the Rear Drive Unit (RDU) with the correct specification of oil up to the fluid filler plug hole.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

  2. Allow the RDU fluid to drain from the fluid filler plug hole until flow stops.
  3. Install and tighten the RDU filler plug.

    Torque  : 35 Nm 

  4. Clean the area around the RDU fluid filler and drain plugs.
  5. Remove the container.
    • Lower the vehicle.
    • Perform a road test under normal driving condition to a maximum speed of 30 mph (50 km/h) for 2 minutes.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  8. Position a suitable container under the RDU.

    Remove and discard the RDU filler plug.

    • If fluid flows out, proceed to step  12.
    • If fluid does not flows out, proceed to step 11.
  11. Fill the RDU with the correct specification of oil.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

  12. Allow the RDU fluid to drain from the fluid filler plug hole until flow stops.

    • Install a new filler plug.

      Renew Part: Rear differential fill plug Quantity: 1 . 

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

  14. Clean the area around the RDU filler plug.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
