Seat Massage - If Equipped
Seat massage requests from the Interactive Control Display Module (ICDM) are received by the Infotainment Master Controller (IMC) through the Automotive Pixel Link 2 (APIX2) connection. The message is then transmitted to the appropriate seat module through the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) comfort and body systems buses. The seat module processes the requests and transmits them to the massage solenoid valve on a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) bus connection.
The massage solenoid operates the relevant solenoid valves and activates the pump. The massage function operates in 10 minute cycles. After a 10 minute cycle is complete the user must re-select the function if a further 10 minute cycle is required.
The solenoid valves are opened to deflate the massage cells and the lumbar/massage air pump is switched OFF, if:
- The massage function is disabled on the ICDM.
- The 10 minute cycle is completed
- Or the ignition is switched OFF.
During operation the bottom cell pair inflate and then deflate. As the first cell pair are deflating the second cell pair start to inflate. This sequence is repeated for all 5 cell pairs, from cell pair 1 at the bottom to cell pair 5 at the top.
Cell inflation time, which varies between cell pairs, is as follows:
- Cell pair 1 =3 seconds.
- Cell pair 2 = 2.6 seconds.
- Cell pair 3 = 2.8 seconds.
- Cell pair 4 = 2.2 seconds.
- Cell pair 5 = 1.6 seconds.
