The heatshields are installed over the turbocharger to protect the surrounding components from radiated heat. The heatshields are also to prevent accidental contact with the hot exhaust components. The heatshields are fixed by bolts to the turbocharger. A multilayer steel gasket is used to seal the joint surface between the turbocharger and the cylinder head.
