- If the vehicle has been powered down, do not power up the vehicle until all the bonding points have been tested.
- It is the responsibility of the Electric Vehicle Senior Authorised Person (EVSAP) to make sure they comply with any local legislation for work on High Voltage (HV).
- The approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn where indicated within this procedure and not removed unless indicated within a step. All items of PPE must be checked for signs of damage before each use, if damaged, replacement PPE must be obtained before doing this procedure.
- Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- Be prepared to collect escaping engine coolant.
- Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

This procedure involves work on components associated with the HV system. Only technicians qualified to EVCP level or higher are allowed to do this procedure. - Always follow the Petrol and Petrol-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions, before any repairs are done to the fuel system.

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

Power Down the HV system. Only technicians qualified to Electric Vehicle Authorised Person (EVAP) level or higher are allowed to perform this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the EV Safety Rules.

- Remove the engine assembly.
Refer to: REMOVAL .
- Remove the drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain into a suitable container.
- Install and tighten the drain plug.
Torque : 23 Nm
- Remove the 3 clips.
- Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release and remove the engine coolant pipe.
- Disconnect the engine coolant pipe.
- Release the clip.
- Remove the engine coolant pipe.
- Disconnect the 2 breather pipe connectors.
- Remove the breather pipe.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the engine coolant hose.
- Remove the engine coolant hose.
- Disconnect the vacuum pipe connector.
- Release the 5 vacuum harness clips.
- Remove the vacuum pipe.
Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the breather pipe connector.
- Remove the purge valve assembly.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Disconnect and remove the engine coolant hose.
- Disconnect the turbocharger coolant hose.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the turbocharger coolant hose assembly.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Release the clip.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect and remove the engine coolant hose.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Disconnect and remove the turbocharger coolant hose.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the engine coolant degas separator.
- Release the 3 wiring harnesses clips.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the oil level gauge assembly.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Release the Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) belt tensioner.
- Install the BISG
belt tensioner locking tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1669
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the BISG belt tensioner.
- Release the BISG belt tensioner.
- Install the BISG
belt tensioner locking tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1669
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the BISG belt tensioner.
- Use a suitable tool to cut the coolant pump drive belt.
- Discard the coolant pump drive belt.
Remove the BISG belt.
- Release the fastener.
- Remove the pipe.
- Reposition the cover to get access to the nut.
- Remove the nut and disconnect the startup battery cable.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the BISG .
Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Release the 8 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the 11 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
Remove the wiring harness.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Release the 2 wiring harnesses clips.
- Remove the wiring harness.

NOTE: If required, use a suitable tool to prevent the pulley from rotating.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the engine coolant pump pulley.
- Remove the 6 bolts.
- Remove the coolant pump.
- Inspect the gasket. If the gasket is damaged or worn, a new engine coolant pump must be installed.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the bracket.
- Release the 2 bolts.
- Remove the turbocharger oil supply pipe.
- Cut and remove the 2 lower sealing washers.
- Remove and discard the 2 bolts.
- Remove and discard the 4 sealing washers.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Remove and discard the bolt (2).
- Remove the heatshield.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the heatshield.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe.
- Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals.
- Remove and discard the 4 nuts.
- Remove the turbocharger.
Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
- Disconnect and remove the engine coolant hose.
- Remove the 7 bolts.
- Remove the engine oil cooler.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the engine coolant pipe.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

NOTE: The bolts will remain captive.
- Release the engine coolant hose.
- Release the 7 bolts.
- Remove the intake manifold.
- Remove and discard the 4 O-ring seals.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the thermostat housing.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the bracket.

CAUTION: Fuel lines may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark each fuel line after each full tightening sequence.
- Release the High Pressure (HP) fuel line union.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the HP fuel line.

CAUTION: Fuel lines may be used a maximum of 4 times, paint mark each fuel line after each full tightening sequence.
- Release the 2 HP fuel line unions.
- Remove the HP fuel line.

CAUTION: Loosen each of the bolts 1 turn at a time until the spring tension is fully released.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the HP fuel pump.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
Remove the HP fuel pump tappet.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the 4 ignition coils.
Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the fuel rail.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Remove the wiring harness.
Remove and discard the 4 fuel injector spring fasteners.
Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-310-254
Use the special tool to remove the fuel injector.
Special Tool(s): 100-012 , 100-012-01 , JLR-310-254
Remove and discard the fuel injector O-ring seal and washer.
Remove and discard the Teflon seal.
- Repeat steps 64 to 67 for the 3 remaining fuel injectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) sensors.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the 2 Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) solenoids.
- Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals.

CAUTION: Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the knock sensor.

CAUTION: Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the knock sensor.

NOTE: If equipped.
- Remove the cylinder block heater.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the piston cooling oil jet solenoid.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the vacuum pipe connector.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) sensor.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the bracket.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the bracket.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the oil filler.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the oil filter element cap.
- Remove and discard the oil filter element.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the oil filter housing.
Remove and discard the 5 O-ring seals.

NOTE: The bolts will remain captive.
- Release the 7 bolts.
- Remove the engine vent oil separator.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
Assemble the special tools as illustrated.

Install the special tools.

- Remove and discard the 8 bolts.
- Remove the dual mass flywheel.
Remove and discard the 4 bolts.
- Remove the special tools.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630 , JLR-303-1686
- Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the special tools.
- Remove the 4 clips.
- Remove the NVH material.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the NVH material.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the NVH material.
