4 Alignment roll pin

At the front of the crankshaft, a tuned torsional vibration damper is incorporated into the crankshaft pulley/damper assembly. The crankshaft pulley/damper is located over a roll pin that is pressed into the front end of the crankshaft. The 4 bolts secure the crankshaft pulley to the crankshaft. The crankshaft pulley/damper drives the accessory drive belt for the ancillary components.

For additional information, refer to: ACCESSORY DRIVE

The tuned torsional vibration damper is incorporated into the crankshaft pulley. The torsional vibration damper is designed to reduce peak levels of torsional vibration inside the crankshaft, this is done through viscous and rubber damping technology. An O-ring seal provides a seal between the crankshaft pulley hub bore and the crankshaft nose outer diameter to prevent oil leakage during engine operation.

A timing mark is etched to the crankshaft pulley, which must be aligned to a corresponding timing feature on the front cover assembly. This position aligns the crankshaft to 50° After Top Dead Center (ATDC) on Cylinder 1. The torsional vibration damper assembly is not a serviceable component and must not be disassembled.
