Powertrain Control Module Relay
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
The PCM relay is used to initiate the power up and power down routines within the PCM . The PCM relay is located in the Engine Junction Box (EJB).
When the vehicle is in Power Mode 6 (ignition ON), the Body Control Module (BCM)/Gateway Control Module (GWM) applies startup battery voltage to the ignition sense input. The PCM then starts power up routines and energizes the PCM relay.
When the vehicle is in Power Mode 4 (accessory (vehicle unlocked and Smart Key present)) or lower, the PCM maintains its powered up state while it conducts the power down routines. This can be for:
- Up to 20 minutes in extreme cases, when the DMTL system is running (NAS only).
- Up to 5 minutes when cooling fans are required.
On completion of the power down routines the PCM deactivated the PCM relay.
