Starter Motor (G2796642): Removal

NOTE:

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Disconnect the 12 V system.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Remove the engine undershield.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
- Remove the transmission undershield.
Refer to: TRANSMISSION UNDERSHIELD
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield from the starter motor.
- Reposition the positive cable shield as illustrated.
- Remove the nut.
- Release the positive cable from the starter motor.
Disconnect the starter motor electrical connector.
- Release the breather pipe clip.
- Disconnect the 2 breather pipe connectors.
- Reposition the breather pipe assembly away from the starter motor.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the starter motor bracket.

NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.
- Remove the 2 starter motor bolts.
- Remove the starter motor as illustrated.

NOTE:
- Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Note the position of the cable.
Loosen the nut and remove the cable from the starter motor.
