Coolant Expansion Tank (G2796572): Removal

WARNING:
Injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant. Make sure the vehicle cooling system is cool prior to carrying out this procedure.
CAUTION:
- The engine cooling system must be maintained with the correct concentration and type of coolant solution to prevent corrosion and frost damage. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
- Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If split, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.
- Never remove the coolant expansion tank cap under any circumstances while the engine is operating. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the engine.
- The engine coolant level sensor is not serviceable as separately. This is supplied as part of the expansion tank.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Partially drain the engine cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING
- Remove the left air cleaner.
Refer to: LEFT AIR CLEANER
- Remove the 8 fasteners.
- Remove the engine compartment front cover.

CAUTION:
- Take extra care not to damage the component.
- Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
Disconnect the 2 coolant pipe connectors.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the coolant expansion tank.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the coolant hose.
- Remove the coolant expansion tank.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
Remove the blanking cap.
