Right Cylinder Head (G2796541): Installation
- Check the cylinder head face for distortion, across the center and from corner to corner.
Refer to: the appropriate service information .

NOTE: Make sure that the sensors are installed to the noted removal position.
- Install the 2 knock sensors.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque : 20 Nm
- CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of any foreign material.
Install a new right cylinder head gasket.
Renew Part: Cylinder head gasket Quantity: 1 .
- NOTE:
- Care must be taken to avoid damage to the cylinder head camshaft bores.
- Use the special tool JLR-303-1492 to protect the camshaft bores edges during rundown sequence.

- Install the right cylinder head.
- Use the 2 special tools to install and tighten the 10 new cylinder head bolts in the sequence illustrated.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1653 , 303-1492
Renew Part: Cylinder head bolts Quantity: 10 .
Torque
Stage 1: 20 Nm
Stage 2: 35 Nm
- Loosen each bolt and then tighten each bolt in the illustrated sequence.
Torque : 35 Nm
- Tighten the 10 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
Torque : 90°
- Tighten the 10 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
Torque : 120°
Install and tighten a new cylinder head bolt in the position illustrated.
Renew Part: Cylinder head bolts Quantity: 1 .
Torque : 25 Nm

Install and tighten the 2 new cylinder head auxiliary bolts in the sequence illustrated.
Renew Part: Cylinder head bolts Quantity: 2 .
Torque : 12 Nm
Lubricate each of the areas shown with a drop of clean engine oil.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

CAUTION:
- If a new cylinder head has been installed then new tappets must be installed.
- If the cylinder head is being removed without a new component being installed, the tappets must be installed in their noted original positions.
Install the 16 tappets.
- CAUTION:
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of any foreign material.
- Take extra care when working near to the open oil filter housing, any foreign materials must be cleaned or removed immediately.
- Install a new gasket.
Renew Part: Oil filter housing gasket Quantity: 1 .
- Install the oil filter housing.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque : 12 Nm
- Install the new O-ring seal provided with the oil filter to the oil filter cap.
- Check all 3 o-ring seals are in place and seated correctly.
- Lubricate the 3 O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
- Install the new oil filter element to the oil filter cap.
Install and tighten the oil filter cap.
Torque : 25 Nm
- NOTE: This step is only required if new components are not installed.
Install 2 new O-ring seals to the rear coolant manifold.
Renew Part: Cylinder block coolant outlet O-ring seals Quantity: 2 .
- Install the rear coolant manifold.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque : 9 Nm
- Install the electrical connector clip.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Install the rear coolant manifold left hose.
- Install the clamp.
- Install the coolant hose to the 2 clips.
- Reposition the transmission breather pipe into the correct location.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 9 Nm
- Install the clip.
- Reposition and secure the knock sensor wiring harness assembly to the original position.
- Secure the 2 clips as illustrated.
- Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Reposition the wiring harness to the original position.
- Secure the clip.
- Fill the engine cooling system with the correct amount of coolant fluid.

- Install the right exhaust manifold.

- Install the right camshafts.

- Connect the 12 V system.
