Fuel Pump Camshaft (G2796553): Installation

CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Lubricate each of the areas shown with a drop of clean engine oil.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
- Make sure that the 6 locating pins are in the place as illustrated.
- Lubricate each of the areas shown with a drop of clean engine oil.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the mating faces.
- Install the fuel pump camshaft to the windage tray.
- Install the fuel pump camshaft carrier.
- Install and tighten the 8 fuel pump camshaft carrier bolts.
Torque : 12 Nm
- Install the oil pump drive sprocket.
- Install, but do not fully tighten a new oil pump drive sprocket bolt.
Renew Part: Oil pump gear bolt Quantity: 1 .
- Use the special tool to hold the oil pump drive sprocket.
Special Tool(s): 205-053
- Tighten the oil pump drive sprocket bolt.
Torque : 21 Nm

CAUTION: Make sure that the tensioner spring is correctly located.
- Install a new lower timing chain tensioner.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 21 Nm
- Reposition the lower timing chain tensioner as illustrated.
- Install a suitable tool to hold the lower timing chain tensioner.
- CAUTION: The crankshaft must be set at 45° After Top Dead Center (ATDC) for cylinder 1.
- Install a new lower timing chain as illustrated.
Renew Part: Lower timing chain Quantity: 1 .
- Make sure the orange link (2) aligns with the timing mark on the HP fuel pump camshaft.
- Make sure the blue link (1) aligns with the timing mark on the crankshaft sprocket.
- Make sure the blue link (3) is in the middle point of the blue link (1) and the orange link (2).
- Install a new lower timing chain as illustrated.
- Install a new lower timing chain guide.
Renew Part: Lower timing chain guide Quantity: 1 .
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 12 Nm
- Install a new lower timing chain guide.
Slowly release the lower timing chain tensioner as illustrated.
Loosen but do not remove the 10 bolts.
Remove the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304
- Remove and discard the 10 bolts.
- Remove the drive plate.

CAUTION: Both flange surfaces must be free from oil or detritus contamination.
- Clean the oil pan and cylinder block mating faces.
- Apply RTV sealant diameter of 3mm in the position shown.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
- CAUTION:
- Make sure that the oil pan is installed directly over the bolt holes so that the sealant is not smeared. Bolts 1-6 must be tightened within 7 minutes of starting to apply the sealant. The remaining bolts must be tightened within 40 minutes of starting to apply the sealant.
- If step 3-4 is not completed within the permitted time, then the joint must be separated, RTV sealant removed and steps must be repeated.
- Install a new O-ring seal.
Renew Part: Oil evacuation tube O-ring seal Quantity: 1 .
- Install the oil pan.
- Install and tighten the 16 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
Torque : 25 Nm
- Install the CKP .
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 11 Nm
- Secure the 3 clips.
- Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install and tighten the 3 bolts.
Torque : 25 Nm
- Install the vacuum pump.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque : 11.5 Nm

CAUTION: Both flange surfaces must be free from oil or detritus contamination.
- Clean the oil pan and cylinder block mating faces.
- Apply RTV sealant diameter of 3mm from the inner edge of the oil pan outwards following the 'T' joint line as illustrated.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
- CAUTION: Make sure that crankshaft rear seal and cover is installed directly over the bolt holes so that the sealer is not smeared.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 303-1442
- Install the crankshaft rear seal and cover.
Renew Part: Crankshaft rear seal plate Quantity: 1 .
- Install the special tool.
- Install, but do not fully tighten the 4 bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1442

NOTE: Positional tolerance of the crankshaft rear seal to the crankshaft palm is 0.2mm.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1622
- Align the crankshaft rear seal and cover.
- Install the special tool.

Tighten the 4 bolts in the sequence illustrated.
Torque : 11.5 Nm
- Install and tighten the 8 bolts.
Torque : 11.5 Nm
- Remove the special tool.
Remove the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1622
- Install and tighten the 8 bolts.

CAUTION: Do not insert the bottoming tap more than the depth of the threaded holes (16mm). Apply tape to the bottoming tap 16mm from the end as a visual guide.
Use a suitable bottoming tap to clean the threads.

CAUTION: Make sure that the locating pin on the crankshaft is aligned with the guide hole in the drive plate
Install the drive plate.
Install but do not fully tighten the 10 new bolts.
Renew Part: Drive plate bolts Quantity: 10 .

CAUTION: The crankshaft must be set at 45° After Top Dead Center (ATDC) for cylinder 1.
Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304

Install and tighten the 10 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
Torque
Stage 1: 45 Nm
Stage 2: 90°

CAUTION:
- Make sure that all the mating faces are clean and free of any foreign material.
- Make sure that the components have been thoroughly cleaned and inspected before installing to the engine. Failure to follow this instruction might result in premature engine failure.
- Lubricate the HP
fuel pump tappet with clean engine oil.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
- Install the HP fuel pump 2 tappet.

CAUTION: Tighten the bolts a turn at a time until the correct torque is achieved.NOTE: Lubricate the HP fuel pump O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
- Install the HP fuel pump 2.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque : 11 Nm
Loosen the 2 bolts.
Loosen : 1 turn(s)
Install the HP fuel pump 2 cover.
- Install the HP
fuel pump 1.
Refer to: HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP 1
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304

CAUTION: The crankshaft must be set at Top Dead Center (TDC) for cylinder 1.
Rotate the crankshaft in a counterclockwise direction by 45° until the marked position as illustrated.
- Make sure that the mark align with the special tool as illustrated
- Install the special tool to lock the crankshaft.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304
- Install and tighten the 2 nuts and bolts.
Torque : 20 Nm
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1303
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 10 Nm
- Install the special tool.

CAUTION: The thread is left handed.
- Remove and discard the crankshaft pulley bolt.
- Remove the M16 washer.
- Install the timing chains, guides and tensioners.

- Install the transmission.

- Fill the engine with the correct amount of engine oil.

- Connect the 12 V system.
