Catalytic Converter (G2344555): Removal

WARNING:
Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Remove the right air filter housing.
Refer to: AIR FILTER HOUSING
- Remove the right air filter outlet pipe.
Refer to: AIR FILTER OUTLET PIPE
- Remove the secondary bulkhead center panel.
- Remove the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM
- Remove the starter motor.
Refer to: STARTER MOTOR
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the pipe assembly.
- Release the clip.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness from the 2 clips.

CAUTION: If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new sensor.
Use the special tool to remove the mid catalyst heated oxygen sensor.
Special Tool(s): JLR-309-004
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Release the heatshield from the bracket.
- Remove the heatshield.
- Release the 2 fasteners.
- Release and reposition the noise, vibration and harshness material as illustrated.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness from the clip.
Remove and discard the clamp.
- Remove the 2 bolts and release the catalytic converter.
- Remove the 2 bolts and remove the bracket.
- Remove the catalytic converter.
- Remove and discard the gasket.

CAUTION: If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new sensor.NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Use the special tool to remove the mid catalyst heated oxygen sensor.
