PHEV Battery Cooling System Draining And Vacuum Filling (G2767280): Draining

WARNING:
  • Injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant. Make sure the vehicle cooling system is cool prior to completing out this procedure.
  • Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
CAUTION:
  • The battery cooling system must be maintained with the correct concentration and type of battery coolant to prevent corrosion and frost damage. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
  • Coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If spilt, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. WARNING: JLR Electric Vehicle Competent Person (EVCP) trained technicians only.

    This procedure involves work on components associated with the High Voltage (HV) system. Only technicians qualified to EVCP  level or higher are allowed to complete this procedure.

    Open the tailgate.

    • Remove the 3 bolts.
    • Remove the access cover.
  4. WARNING: Injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant, do not remove the cap from the coolant expansion tank while the system is hot.

    Remove the filler cap from the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) battery cooling system expansion tank.

  5. Raise and support the vehicle.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

  6. Remove the left undershield.

    Refer to: LEFT UNDERSHIELD

    • Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the PHEV  battery coolant isolation valve.
    • Disconnect the coolant pipe.
    • Allow the coolant to drain into a suitable container.
    • Connect the 2 coolant hoses and the coolant pipe.
  8. Install the left undershield.

    Refer to: LEFT UNDERSHIELD

    • Remove the 4 bolts.
    • Remove the 4 D-loop anchor points.
    • Remove the loadspace floor trim.

    • Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the PHEV  battery.
    • Allow the coolant to drain into a suitable container.
    • Connect the 2 coolant hoses.

    • Install the loadspace floor trim.
    • Install the 4 D-loop anchor points.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm
