Battery And Cables (G2749057): Operation: Notes
If the vehicle has been powered down, do not power up the vehicle until all the bonding points have been tested.
The PHEV battery stores the electrical energy from the following:
- The PHEV
battery onboard charger (In the High Voltage Integrated Box)
- For additional information, Refer to: HIGH VOLTAGE INTEGRATED BOX
- The CIMG during regenerative braking controlled by the inverter.
The PHEV battery also delivers electrical energy to the following:
- The CIMG
controlled by the inverter
- For additional information, Refer to: INVERTER
- The HV
interior heater
- For additional information, Refer to: HEATING AND VENTILATION
- The electric A/C
compressor
- For additional information, Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING
- The vehicle 12V electrical systems through the DC/DC
(In the High Voltage Integrated Box).
- For additional information, Refer to: HIGH VOLTAGE INTEGRATED BOX
The BECM controls the HV energy both delivered and supplied by the PHEV battery. The BECM may restrict the amount of energy delivered or supplied if the PHEV battery internal temperature is outside the normal operational temperature range.
The BECM also controls the temperature of the PHEV battery. The PHEV battery temperature control operates when the vehicle is driven. The PHEV battery temperature control also operates while the PHEV battery onboard charger is connected to an external power supply by the charging port.
The BECM monitors the individual PHEV battery cell voltages when the vehicle is in operation or the PHEV battery is charging. It compares the PHEV battery cell voltages and adjusts them based on a delta voltage difference. If the vehicle is not to be used for an extended period of time, connect the vehicle to an external power supply. This will maintain the PHEV battery State Of Charge (SOC) at a high level.
