Cylinder Block Heater Harness Installation (G2788956): Connect

NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations with components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

  2. Disconnect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  3. Remove the front left wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: FRONT WHEEL ARCH LINER

  4. Remove the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD

  5. Remove the transmission undershield.

    Refer to: TRANSMISSION UNDERSHIELD

  6. Remove the front bumper.

    Refer to: FRONT BUMPER

  7. Remove the charge air cooler outlet pipe.

    Refer to: CHARGE AIR COOLER OUTLET PIPE

    • Remove and discard the bolt.
    • Reposition the steering column lower shaft away from the steering gear.

    • Install the block heater harness.
    • Connect the electrical connector to the block heater.
    • Install the clip to the coolant hose.

    • Install the 3 clips to the Air Conditioning (A/C) pipes.
    • Install the ground cable.
    • Install and tighten the nut.

      Torque  : 7 Nm

    • Install the clip to the charge air cooler bracket.
    • Install the 4 clips to the coolant hoses.

    Install the 2 clips to the front armature.

    • Release the 2 clips.
    • Release the front bumper finisher from the headlamp finisher.
  14. CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.

    • Use suitable masking tape to protect the component from damage prior to drilling the hole.
    • Use a suitable drill to cut a 29mm diameter hole in the front bumper finisher as illustrated.

    Install the block heater harness to the front bumper finisher as illustrated.

    Install the front bumper finisher to the headlamp finisher.

  17. Install the front bumper.

    Refer to: FRONT BUMPER

    Install the clip to the front bumper.

  19. Install the charge air cooler outlet pipe.

    Refer to: CHARGE AIR COOLER OUTLET PIPE

    • Reposition the steering column lower shaft.
    • Install and tighten a new bolt.

      Renew Part: Lower steering column to steering gear bolts Quantity: 1  .

      Torque  : 30 Nm 

  21. Install the transmission undershield.

    Refer to: TRANSMISSION UNDERSHIELD

  22. Install the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD

  23. Install the front left wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: FRONT WHEEL ARCH LINER

  24. Connect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
