Noise, Vibration And Harshness
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
As the checks suggested here are open to interpretation, they should be used as a guide only. Descriptions of noises, etc, are in general terms, so depend on a degree of experience on the part of the technician.
| SYMPTOM |
POSSIBLE CAUSES |
ACTION |
| The vehicle Shakes on start up and there is a rattle noise when the vehicle is at speed |
- Engine misfire caused by a Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) mechanical failure
|
- If the DTC
are set in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), refer to the relevant DTC
index until you reach the "CVVL
" as a possible cause/action
- Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness's electrical connector(s). Remove the CVVL
unit and inspect the components for a mechanical failure (broken springs). Replace any damaged components
- Make sure the crankshaft position sensor is correctly connected
- Make sure the CVVL
unit it replaced correctly
- Make sure the fuel injectors wiring harness is reconnected. Test the vehicle and see if the fault is still present. If the fault is still present:
- Complete a valid compression test. See the "Cylinder Compression Test" symptom chart further down the page if the test results are 0% or no pressure
- Continue the "action" column in the DTC
index
