Right Variable Camshaft Timing Solenoid (G2849401): Removal

CAUTION:
Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of any foreign material.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Disconnect the 12V system.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Partially drain the engine cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe T-connector.
Refer to: AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE T-CONNECTOR
- Release the clamp.
- Remove the clean air duct.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Release the 3 clamps.
- Disconnect the coolant lower hose.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the 2 coolant pipes.
- Remove the coolant hose assembly.

NOTE: Illustration shows the intake Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) solenoid.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the VCT solenoid.
- Remove the 2 bolts.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
Evenly and progressively, remove the VCT solenoid from each side.

NOTE: Illustration shows the exhaust VCT solenoid.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the VCT solenoid.
- Remove the 2 bolts.

Evenly and progressively, remove the VCT solenoid from each side.
