The oil pressure and temperature sensor is located at the front of the cylinder block, under the oil filter and housing assembly. The sensor is located in a threaded hole in the cylinder block.

The oil pressure and temperature sensor has a 3-pin connector.

The 3-pin connector provides the following connections:

The sensor provides a PWM  signal that contains information about the self-diagnosis of the sensor, pressure and temperature. The pressure is measured using a piezo-resistive pressure cell and the temperature is measured using an integrated diode.

The sensor measures pressure between 0.5 bar (7.3 psi) to 10.5 bar (152.3 psi) and temperature between -40°C (-40°F) to +150°C (302°F).

The PCM  outputs the engine oil pressure state on the FlexRay systems bus for use by the BCM  /GWM  . The BCM  /GWM  provides the oil pressure value for the IPC  on the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems bus. The signal is used by the IPC  to provide oil pressure information to the driver.

In the event of the oil pressure falling below the operating threshold of the sensor:
