The breather consists of an oil separator, positive crankcase ventilation valve and 2 plastic hoses. The positive crankcase ventilation valve is installed in the top of the engine vent oil separator. The part load plastic hose connects to the intake manifold connector, the other plastic hose connects to the turbocharger intake vent connector.
The engine vent oil separator is installed in a channel in the top of the camshaft carrier. A baffle plate, which incorporates a blow-by gas intake and a hole to drain the oil, is installed over the channel.
The gas and oil vapor pass over the engine vent oil separator. The oil drains to the camshaft carrier and through the positive crankcase ventilation oil drain valve into the oil pan.
The vapor can be drawn from the engine to the air intake system through one of the following modes:
- A plastic hose attached to the turbocharger intake air vent
- Into the intake manifold hose connection from the camshaft cover.
