- D1: PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE REPAIR ACTIONS P023C PULSE WIDTH MODULATED SHORT TO POWER 1
- D2: PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE REPAIR ACTIONS P023C PULSE WIDTH MODULATED SHORT TO POWER 2
- D3: PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE REPAIR ACTIONS P023C PULSE WIDTH MODULATED SHORT TO POWER 3
- Check the resistance between the PCM PWM
terminal and the earth terminal of the harness connector. Check for PWM
short to ground in wiring from the PCM
to the pump
Was a short circuit or low continuity detected?
Yes: Check the wiring harness for damage or short circuit. Check the connector for backed out pins and corroded connectors. Inspect the pump pins for corrosion. Repair as necessary
No: Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, update the PCM to the latest level software, clear the DTC s and retest. If the fault persists, raise a TA regarding a possible PCM fault
- Check the resistance between the PCM PWM
terminal and the earth terminal of the harness connector. Check for PWM
short to ground in wiring from the PCM
to the pump
- D4: PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE REPAIR ACTIONS P023C PULSE WIDTH MODULATED SHORT TO POWER 4
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check if DTC
P023A has set?
Did DTC P023A set?
Yes: Visually inspect the coolant pump connector pins for corrosion. If the pins are corroded, inspect the wiring harness for corrosion and repair as necessary. Unrepaired wiring harness allowing water ingress will lead to a repeat failure. Install a new coolant pump and record the observations on claim/EPQR
No: DTC P023A should not have set. Raise a TA
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check if DTC
P023A has set?
- D5: PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE REPAIR ACTIONS P023C PULSE WIDTH MODULATED SHORT TO POWER 5
- Measure the potential difference across the coolant pump. Disconnect the connector from the pump, connect the multimeter +ve terminal to the power terminal in the harness connector and multimeter -ve terminal to the earth terminal in the harness connector
Is the potential difference across the coolant pump between 8v and 17v?
Yes: If the potential difference is between 8v and 17v GO to D6.
No: If the potential difference is not between 8v and 17v, check the battery and fuse. Check the continuity of the power and earth lines including the earth stud. If the voltage is above 8v the earth wiring or stud may be faulty. If the voltage is below 8v the power wiring may be faulty or the battery may have low voltage. Repair as necessary. If the fault persists, restart the diagnostics according to the latest DTC s set.
- Measure the potential difference across the coolant pump. Disconnect the connector from the pump, connect the multimeter +ve terminal to the power terminal in the harness connector and multimeter -ve terminal to the earth terminal in the harness connector
- D6: PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE REPAIR ACTIONS P023C PULSE WIDTH MODULATED SHORT TO POWER 6
- Reconnect the connector and check if the coolant pump is running
Is the coolant pump now running?
Yes: If the coolant pump is running, clear the DTC s and retest. If the fault persists, restart the diagnostics according to the latest DTC s set
No: If the coolant pump is not running, install a new coolant pump, clear the DTC s and retest.
- Reconnect the connector and check if the coolant pump is running
