Crankshaft Rear Seal (G2796539): Installation

CAUTION: Both flange surfaces must be free from oil or detritus contamination.
- Clean the oil pan and cylinder block mating faces.
- Apply RTV sealant diameter of 3mm from the inner edge of the oil pan outwards following the 'T' joint line as illustrated.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

CAUTION: Make sure that crankshaft rear seal and cover is installed directly over the bolt holes so that the sealer is not smeared.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 303-1442
- Install a new crankshaft rear seal and cover.
- Install the special tool.
- Install, but do not fully tighten the 4 bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1442

NOTE: Positional tolerance of the crankshaft rear seal to the crankshaft palm is 0.2mm.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1622
- Align the crankshaft rear seal and cover.
- Install the special tool.

Tighten the 4 bolts in the sequence illustrated.
Torque : 11.5 Nm
- Install and tighten the 8 bolts.
Torque : 11.5 Nm
- Remove the special tool.
Remove the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1622
- Install and tighten the 8 bolts.
- Install the drive plate.

- Connect the 12V system.
