PHEV Battery Handling And Storage (G2781647): Quarantine
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING:
- It is the responsibility of the Electric Vehicle Authorised Person (EVAP) to make sure they comply with any local legislation for work on High Voltage (HV).
- The approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn where indicated within this procedure and not removed unless indicated within a step. All items of PPE
must be checked for signs of damage before each use, if damaged, replacement PPE
must be obtained before doing this procedure.
- Cotton clothing
- Class 0 insulated rubber gloves
- Class 0 insulated safety visor
CAUTION:
- Make sure all the HV connectors, ground points and locating points are clean and free from foreign material before disconnecting and connecting.
- Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
- If the HV battery module is being replaced a printed copy of the State Of Charge (SOC) report must be placed in the old HV battery module return packaging.
NOTE:
- All Permit To Work (PTW) documents must be kept for a minimum of 5 years.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Before handling any HV
connectors the person(s) completing this procedure must refer to the 'High Voltage Electrical Connector Operation and Inspection' document.
Refer to: BATTERY AND CABLES (G2749057) .
-
WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) EVAP trained technicians only.
It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.
Refer to: ELECTRIC VEHICLE SAFETY RULES
-
CAUTION:
- Take extra care not to damage the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) battery vent and seal.
- The PHEV battery must not rest on the vent.
- All lock off tools must be left installed on the PHEV battery until it gets installed back to the vehicle or until new PHEV battery is available.
- The PHEV battery should be supported by its mounting points while in storage. Do not let the PHEV rest on the vent assembly at the bottom.
- Store the PHEV battery in a secure location.
- Place appropriate fire suppressant equipment in close proximity of the PHEV battery.
- Place a safety barrier around the PHEV
battery, leave a minimum of a 1 meter gap between the PHEV
battery and the barrier.
General Equipment: High Voltage (HV) safety barrier
-
WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.
Use the special tool JLR-415-112 and suitable lifting equipment to move the PHEV battery.
Special Tool(s): JLR-415-112
General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane
-
WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) EVAP trained technicians only.
- If the new PHEV battery arrives, remove the JLR special tools and padlocks from the battery that was removed from the customer vehicle. Swap these special tools and padlocks over with the blanking caps on the new battery. This must be done one by one to reduce the risk of electrocution.
- The new PHEV
battery must now be stored exactly as detailed in step 3 until it gets installed in the vehicle. The PHEV
battery waiting for disposal must be placed immediately into the packaging that was supplied with the new battery and stored in a secure location.
Special Tool(s): JLR-415-114 , JLR-415-115 , JLR-415-117
