PHEV Battery Cooling System Draining And Vacuum Filling (G2767280): Filling

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION: The battery cooling system must be maintained with the correct concentration and type of battery coolant solution to prevent corrosion and frost damage. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
  1. Prepare a sufficient amount of coolant to the specified concentration.

    Refer to: PHEV BATTERY TEMPERATURE CONTROL 

  2. NOTE: The special tool HU-919 needs an air pressure of 6 bar to 8 bar (87 psi to 116 psi) to operate correctly.

    • Install the special tool HU-919 to the coolant expansion tank.
    • Close the coolant inlet valve (A) and air supply valve (B) on the special tool HU-919.
    • Attach the coolant inlet hose (C) from a container of coolant mixture to the special tool HU-919.
    • Connect a regulated compressed air supply (D) to the special tool HU-919.

      Special Tool(s): HU-919

    Open the air supply valve until -0.85 bar is shown on the gauge.

    Special Tool(s): HU-919 

  4. CAUTION: If the special tool HU-919 gauge indicates a significant drop in vacuum, inspect the PHEV  battery cooling system for leaks.

    • Close the air supply valve.
    • Wait 1 minute to check if the cooling system holds the vacuum.

      Special Tool(s): HU-919

    • Open the coolant inlet valve and allow the coolant to be drawn into the system.

      Special Tool(s): HU-919 

    • Close the coolant inlet valve when the coolant movement has ceased.

      Special Tool(s): HU-919

    • Close the coolant inlet valve (A) and air supply valve (B) on the special tool HU-919.
    • Disconnect the coolant inlet hose (C) and the air supply (D) from the special tool HU-919.
    • Remove the special tool HU-919 from the coolant expansion tank.

    Fill the coolant expansion tank to the 'MAX' mark.

    1. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, and select 'Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Diagnostics'.
    2. Select 'Battery Energy Control ModuleBattery Energy Control Module (BECM)'.
    3. Select 'ECU  Functions'.
    4. Select 'Hybrid Battery Cooling System Bleed Applications'.

      General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment

    • Wait 2 minutes.
    • Fill the coolant expansion tank to the 'MAX' mark.

    Install the filler cap to the PHEV  battery cooling system expansion tank.

    • Install the access cover.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 9 Nm

    Close the tailgate.
