Electric Vehicle Quarantine (G2792480): Inspection

  1. WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Electric Vehicle Authorised Person (EVAP) trained technicians only.

    This procedure involves work on vehicle systems containing High Voltage (HV). Only technicians qualified to EVAP  level or higher are allowed to perform this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.

  2. WARNING: This Step must be performed in a suitable outside location, not within a workshop.

    1. WARNING: If any signs of fire or smoke are found, do not proceed any further with the procedure. Position the vehicle with ample space left between the vehicle and other vehicles, buildings and flammable or combustible objects, then contact the emergency services.

      Inspect the vehicle for any signs of fire or smoke.

    2. WARNING:
      • If any concerns are found with the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) battery, the vehicle must now be placed in quarantine, proceed to Step 5.
      • If any concerns are found with any of the other HV  components or cabling, the vehicle must be powered down. Proceed to Step 4.

      Inspect the vehicle for damage, concentrating on the HV  components highlighted and the surrounding areas. If possible, open the hood, side doors and rear door to assist with the inspection. If no concerns are found, proceed to Step 3.

    1. Move the vehicle into the workshop.
    2. WARNING:
      • If any concerns are found with the PHEV  battery, the vehicle must now be placed in quarantine, proceed to Step 5.
      • If any concerns are found with any of the other HV  components or cabling, the vehicle must be powered down. Proceed to Step 4.

      Inspect the HV  system for damage, concentrating on the components highlighted and the surrounding area. If no concerns are found, there is no requirement to place the vehicle in quarantine. Normal repairs/diagnosis of the vehicle can commence.

      Power Down  the HV  system. Only technicians qualified to EVAP  level are allowed to perform this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.

      Refer to: the appropriate service information

    • Do not proceed any further with this procedure. Normal repairs/diagnosis of the vehicle can commence.
