The PHEV battery coolant low temperature radiator locates in the cooling module at the front of the vehicle. The cooling module uses the vehicle speed and the electric cooling fans to move the air through the cooling pack. The movement of the air cools the PHEV battery coolant in the PHEV battery temperature control system. The BECM controls the flow of PHEV battery coolant through the PHEV battery coolant low temperature radiator by:
- A PWM signal to the PHEV battery coolant pump.
The PHEV battery coolant low temperature radiator is used to cool the PHEV battery only with a suitable ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is higher than the threshold, the PHEV battery is cooled by the PHEV battery coolant cooler.
