Oil Pan (G2523503): Installation

NOTE:
- Make sure that all traces of the old sealant are removed from the mating faces.
- Apply silicone gasket sealant or equivalent meeting Jaguar specification.
Apply silicone gasket sealant or equivalent meeting Jaguar specification as illustrated.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

CAUTION: Install the bolts in the noted position.
- Install the oil pan.
- Partially install the 2 oil pan bolts finger tight to make sure the oil pan is fitted in the correct position.

CAUTION: Install the bolts in the noted position.
Partially tighten the 2 fitted oil pan bolts.
Torque : 10 Nm

CAUTION: Install the bolts in the noted position.
Install the remaining bolts and tighten fully following the sequence illustrated.
Torque : 25 Nm

CAUTION: Install the bolts in the noted position.
Install the remaining 3 oil pan bolts and tighten to the correct torque.
Torque : 25 Nm
Install the 4 bolts securing the transmission assembly to the oil pan assembly.
Torque : 48 Nm

- Install the NVH pad.
- Install the 4 clips securing the NVH to the oil pan assembly.

- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes into the correct position.
- Install and tighten the bolt securing the transmission tubes to the oil pan assembly.
Torque : 12 Nm

CAUTION: Inspect the O-ring seal, install a new component if damaged.
- Install the oil level gauge tube.
- Install and tighten the bolt securing the oil level gauge in position.
Torque : 8 Nm

CAUTION:
- Inspect the front cover and replace if necessary.
- Make sure that the surface of the front cover and the engine is clean and free of foreign material.
- Steps 10-13 must be completed within 7 minutes of starting to apply the RTV.
Apply RTV sealant in the position shown.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the engine front cover.
- Use the front cover alignment tool to align the front cover.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1672

CAUTION: Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.
Install and finger tighten the 4 bolts.

CAUTION: Continuous forward pressure must be applied on the tool.
Fully tighten the 4 bolts in the sequence illustrated.
Torque : 12 Nm

CAUTION: This step must be completed within 40 minutes of starting to apply the RTV.
Install and tighten the 8 bolts.
Torque : 12 Nm
Remove the front cover alignment tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1672

CAUTION: This step is only required if the front cover is re-used.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628
- Rotate the special tool and the crankshaft front seal 35° in a counter clockwise direction.
- Remove the special tool and the crankshaft front seal.
- Remove and discard the crankshaft front seal.
- Install the special tool.
- CAUTION: This step is only required if the front cover is re-used.
- Install a new crankshaft front seal to the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628
Renew Part: Crankshaft front oil seal Quantity: 1 .
- Install the special tool and the crankshaft front seal.
- Rotate the crankshaft front seal and special tool 35° in a clockwise direction.
- Remove the special tool.
- Install a new crankshaft front seal to the special tool.
- Install the 2 timing belt idler pulleys.
Torque : 25 Nm

- Install the A/C compressor into the correct position.
- Install and tighten the 3 nuts securing the A/C
compressor in position.
Torque : 25 Nm

- Install the front drive halfshaft support bracket into the correct position.
- Install and tighten the 3 bolts securing the front drive halfshaft support bracket in position.
Torque : 25 Nm
- Install the crankshaft damper.

- Install the front final drive differential case.
Refer to: DIFFERENTIAL .
- Refill the engine with oil.
Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
