The fuel tank is a saddle tank design and installed under the second row seat floorpan, forward of the rear suspension. The fuel tank is manufactured using 6 layer co-extruded blow molding technology providing both high mechanical strength and complete emission integrity. The fuel tank is secured with 2 straps which are bolted in position to the vehicle body. The fuel filler neck is produced from stainless steel.
The fuel tank has a storage capacity of 69 liters (18.22 (US) gallons).
The fuel tank contains a LP fuel pump assembly which collects fuel from both sides of the fuel tank. The LP fuel pump assembly supplies the engine's fuel demands while also supplying the fuel to power the 2 jet pump venturis. The rapid flow of fuel through the venturi nozzle creates a depression. The depression draws the fuel back across the saddle into the pump side of the fuel tank and fills the LP fuel pump assembly swirl pot.
Fuel level inside the tank is monitored by 2 level sensors. The fuel level sensor 'A' is installed in the right side of the fuel tank on an internal bracket. Also an internal bracket allows for the attachment of the fuel level sensor 'B' on the left side of the fuel tank. The fuel level sensor 'A' and fuel level sensor 'B' monitor the fuel level inside the fuel tank. The signals from fuel level sensor 'A' and fuel level sensor 'B' are sent to the BCM /GWM .
Fuel Limit Vent Valve
The 2 FLVV are installed in the middle of the fuel tank. The FLVV opens as the amount of the fuel vapors inside the fuel tank increases. Then fuel vapors escape to the evaporative emission canister, the pressure inside the fuel tank maintains under a standard pressure.
Roll-Over Valve
The fuel tank has 3 roll-over valves to allow the fuel vapor to exit and prevent pressurization of the fuel tank in normal operation. When the fuel filler cap is open, the air vents to the fuel filler neck through the roll-over valves and the breather pipe. The venting between the fuel tank and the fuel filler neck makes sure that the fuel flows into the fuel tank. In the event of a vehicle rollover, the roll-over valves close to prevent the leakage of fuel from the fuel tank.
