Engine Cooling - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2318507): Overview
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The engine cooling system maintains the engine within an optimum temperature range under changing ambient and engine operating conditions. The system is a pressurized coolant expansion tank system with continuous bleeds to separate air from the coolant and prevent the formation of air locks.
The engine cooling system also provides:
Heating for:
- The passenger compartment.
- For additional information, Refer to: HEATING AND VENTILATION
- The throttle body.
- Refer to the appropriate service information.
Cooling for:
- The oil cooler.
- For additional information, refer to: ENGINE
- The engine.
- For additional information, refer to: ENGINE
- The supercharger.
- For additional information, refer to: SUPERCHARGER COOLING
- The Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) cooler.
The primary components of the engine cooling system are the:
- Coolant pump
- Thermostat
- Radiator
- Electric cooling fan
- Coolant expansion tank
- Electric throttle
- Engine coolant outlet pipe and heater manifold
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (quantity 2)
- Charge air radiator
- Charge air cooler coolant pump
- Oil cooler
- Thermostatic control valve
- Connecting hoses and pipes
- Auxiliary radiator (quantity 2)
- Active grille air shutter - If equipped.
On North American Specification (NAS) market vehicles, an active grille air shutter is optionally installed to reduce aerodynamic drag and engine warm up time.
