Electric Cooling Fan
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The electric cooling fan is operated by the engine cooling fan control module integrated into the cooling fan motor. The engine cooling fan control module regulates the voltage, and thus speed, of the cooling fan motor.
The electric cooling fan receives a battery feed from the right Engine Junction Box (EJB). An ignition signal is received from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relay located in the left EJB. The PCM relay is controlled by the PCM.
The PCM calculates the required fan speed from the engine coolant temperature, refrigerant pressure and Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature. In hot operating conditions, the electric cooling fan may continue to operate for 5 minutes after the engine has been switched off.
